This is an insightful post written by my friend, Kat Donatello, who had to make the tough call not to race an Ironman that she has been training for most of the spring and summer. Diagnosed with a labral tear in her hip, Kat is going to make the most of a beautiful Ironman course and complete (I mean “hammer”) the swim and the bike because running with that injury is extremely painful.    I know this first hand as I had the same injury last year and I basically threw a summer-long pity party for myself–so it is refreshing to hear Kat’s positive spin on the situation.  Sometimes we have to readjust, as “the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry” -John Steinbeck
