It’s finally time for another #FunFoodieFinds post. Sheesh, it’s been awhile…..
Paleo Coconut Flakes Words can’t even describe how delicious this cereal is. These wonderful crunchies are made from 100% coconut. They’re Crispy! They’re Flaky! They’re Fantastic! And they are paleo. Forget the protein shake and all of that post long workout triathlon math 4:1 CHO:PRO garbage; I’m having a large bowl of these right after. Downright delicious. http://www.julianbakery.com/paleo-product/paleo-cereal/
The BU Kombucha This company has a small line of lovely Kombucha with just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. I thought that the Lavender and Honeydew were flavor standouts. The other day, I was fortunate enough to stumble across a tasting at #WFMDelMAR. Bonus the friendly rep was also giving out purple hair ties. http://thebukombucha.com For all of you triathletes, there is nothing better than a Kombucha or two after a long, hot run.
Ginger Shots Mason was pouring some samples of these delicious, pungent shots of ginger at–wait, just guess– #WFMDelMar. Perfect timing, as I was starting to feel grumpy and rundown. I always shop with and stick to a list, but I went into full “impulse buying mode” as the shots were THAT good. Glad that I did so, as food was thy medicine over the weekend and I lived on Gingershots, KomBUcha and Pho Soup. My favorite is the pineapple-ginger. https://gingershots.com
Meyer Lemons some my favorite clients have a very prolific Meyer lemon tree and have been extremely generous in supplying me with these citrus jewels. Meyer lemons are less acidic than their ubiquitous cousin, the Eureka lemon. I’ve been juicing away and using the juice in everything from raw, vegan cheesecakes and bars to aioli and lavender-Meyer Lemonade. If you’re in California, forgo paying 75 cents/each at the store (sorry #WFMDelMar–but I still love ya); I’m sure that there is a tree within a quarter mile radius from you.
Sidecar Doughnuts (technically from last week) I’m sure that Kurt Perham is breathing a large sigh of relief sprinkled with a touch of “I told you so” as Sidecar is the first shop I’ve seen in SoCal to spell out”Doughnut” in the east coast manner. I’ve been going through my Instagram feed and have discovered that I have an inordinate amount of donut/doughnut producers hmmmmmmmmm……. We had the “Butter and Salt” doUGHNUT; which was off the charts AMAZING. Other choices included “Violet”, “Passionfruit Pavlova” and “Madagascar Vanilla Twist”. Looks as though they are producing a gluten-free “Black Velvet” one this month (complete with rose petal). If you are out and about in Santa Monica or Costa Mesa, Sidecar Doughnuts is a must. http://www.sidecardoughnuts.com
Betty Designs Signature Beanie Not a food item (duh) but Kristin, the owner and founder of Betty Designs, was awesome enough to bring the Nytro GrooveTri gals a little present last night–I was sporting it on Dog Beach this a.m. and sure it will be part of pre race attire http://www.bettydesigns.com/collections/frontpage/products/signature-beanie
Off I go to one of those HUX swim workouts…..may the force (and my arms) be with me.
