I’ll be honest with you: this week’s smoothie was basically a “kitchen sink” concoction:  I had a very small amount of all of the fruit and coconut milk.  Sometimes when making a smoothie, I’ll use nuts + water in place of a milk, which I did here to compensate for not having enough coconut milk.  Brazil nuts, a tremendous source of selenium, are soft enough to blend well when making an “on the fly” milk (i.e. they don’t need to be soaked).  I threw in some of Sunfood’s vanilla powder because I can’t seem to get enough of the stuff!   Any time I use peaches, there is sure to be cinnamon. Cinnamon is said to aid in the abatement of common colds, Alzheimer’s, fungal infection and diabetes.  I read somewhere that it can also help with erectile dysfunction…well okay then!  And the spinach and kale?????  I can’t think of a single reason NOT to throw in the chlorophyll into your smoothie unless you were stuck watching the Wizard of Oz on repeat recently and you are just over All Things Green.

Green + Blue make for a kind of chocolatey color, but the smoothie was not to sweet, tasted great and was chock full of nutrients

Kitchen Sink Blueberry Peachy Green Smoothie

  • ½ Cup Frozen Blueberries
  • 1 Cup Frozen Peaches
  • ½ of  a Frozen Banana
  • 1 Cup Spinach Leaves
  • 1 large Kale Leaf, stem removed
  • 1 Tbsp Maca Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Powder (I used Sunfood)
  • 2 Brazil Nuts
  • ½ Cup Coconut Milk (not canned)
  • ½ Cup Water plus more to adjust consistency if necessary


  • Blend until smoothie in high speed blender (I use a Vitamix)

Just ran 10 minutes easy on a flat, soft surface in my marshmallow (Hoka) shoes.    My Achilles feels a little tight, but I’m icing it down and hoping that it continues to get better.  Tonight I’m going to be playing the role of guinea pig at Art of Skin MD, where I’m undergoing a Vanquish treatment (more on that tomorrow).
