Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut flakes, tamari or soy sauce, maple syrup, and liquid smoke. Toss well to coat the coconut.
Spread the coconut mixture evenly on the baking sheet.
Bake for 12-15 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the coconut is golden brown and crispy. Keep a close eye on it to avoid burning.
